Young has been on motorcycles since the age of 4 years old.  Exactly the same route as his countryman and friend Kev Coghlan, Ben started on Polini minimoto machines, moving onto GP125 bikes within the Scottish and British Championships.  When Young moved to Canada in 2007 he brought his Honda RS125 (which he bought from Coghlan) and continued racing within Canada and the USA.  After winning the Canada Regional PRO GP125 Championships and the CAN-AM it was time for the USGPRU GP125

In 2009 the young Scottish rider joined Fogi Racing when it was previously known as RAT Racing to race the Fogi Honda RS125.  This was the start of his development (apprenticeship).  In 2010, Young moved onto a Yamaha TZ250.  This season he will continue his progression aboard a Yamaha R6 competing in the 2012 AMA Pro GoPro Daytona SportBike class.
