Day 1 was all about track time and familiarisation of the track for Fogi Racing’s Ben Young. Day 2 started off pretty good. The first session we ran yesterdays tyres to wake Ben up a little with it being an early start and first on track. Although Ben is used to the Dunlop... spec tyre at AMA, the tyre choice for the weekend was Pirelli, Canadian National spec tyres. Our thoughts to use the Pirelli’s to achieve a good feel of Ben’s pace (lap times) with Canadian National Pro 600 class and if we had the opportunity in racing the National Series, testing them is done. Times were good and consistent. Fastest lap time of the day – 2.05:597 sec’s on Canada’s newest 3.05 mile track with 20 turns.

Ben was asked how the test went. “I love Calabogie, it’s a great track it has everything you need to test. It would be great to race here”. Ben was asked how his bike was running and why he was using the Turn2 Yam R6 (his number #2 bike) and not his primary machine. “The Turn2 bike was running great, no problems at all over the weekend. It was weird, we ran out of the AMA spec Sunoco fuel on the Saturday we thought we had loads, so for the Sunday we had to unplug the Power Commander as it was mapped for the race fuel because we has to use Shell pump gas. This meant the engine was standard road spec. Not just that, the new rear Pirelli was mounted on backwards by mistake. I can’t believe with these issues we achieved the fastest lap time of the weekend. I think with the time I got, it may have put me on 2nd row in the 600 Nationals here in 2009. I can’t wait until my next AMA round at Barber Alabama, June 17/19th as we will have the #1 bike. The bike is in Atlanta getting prepped for Barber.
